Memorial Service•Reviewed on May 31, 2015•From Chevy Chase, DC

Alan was wonderful - professional, talented, accomodating. We had to hire him on short notice for my father's Memorial Service, and felt lucky to get him. He chose appropriate music for all parts of the service, and we received many compliments on his work. In addition to that, he was a real gentleman. My father would have approved. I would not hesitate to recommend him.

Wedding•Reviewed on May 22, 2015•From Washington, DC

Alan was friendly and easy to work with. The music was great and he played during our lunch. After, many people moved outside to play lawn games and he took the initiative to move outside and keep playing. It made our wedding day seem extra festive! I only requested the ceremony music and gave him the discretion to play whatever he wanted the rest of the time and he helped create the perfect atmosphere for our wedding!

Wedding Ceremony•Reviewed on October 30, 2014•From Poolesville, MD

Alan provided the ceremony and cocktail hour music for this outdoor wedding. Alan is an exceptional violinist with a wide range of music. We were especially impressed with Alan's professionalism and flexibility. He learned a new song at the bride's request and performed it beautifully for her processional. As guests arrived, he moved around the venue to where they were gathered, creating a festive atmosphere for the guests. Despite wind, chilly conditions and a large venue, Alan offered a beautiful, excellent performance that was the perfect start to the wedding.

Wedding Ceremony•Reviewed on July 14, 2014•From Alexandria, VA

Alan was very professional and accommodating and played beautifully. He was early to our wedding and was very prepared. I had asked him to play some specific songs. He gladly accommodated after I sent him the music (and only with 1 week to practice!). We discovered from some of our guests that he also gladly accommodated some of their requests during the dinner. I would definitely recommend him!

Wedding Ceremony•Reviewed on June 9, 2014•From Silver Spring, MD

Alan was fantastic. Not only did he play the music, he created a romantic atmosphere. Everyone was taken in! We have requested a few songs that are not well known and he played them beautifully. Alan enjoys playing music which makes it even better for the audience. Later on, at the reception, he joined in with our friend who plays guitar for an impromptu jam session. Together, guitar and violin were singing as if they have known each other all their lives and not just met this very same evening! It was a rare and magical evening that we and our guests will remember for the rest of our lives. We are very grateful to be privileged to have Alan playing at our wedding.

Alan was flexible and professional, and above all, played BEAUTIFULLY! He coordinated with three of my family members for a processional, recessional and cocktail hour. All three of my family members said he was great to work with, and anyone who heard the music commented on how great it was! Highly recommend, without reservation!

My family has hired Alan Oresky before but this was my first time personally hiring him and I have to say, I was not disappointed. Alan did a wonderful job playing and was knowledgeable about different types of music. I am forever grateful for Alan creating a wonderful night for my family. I would recommend Alan to anyone looking for a talented and professional violinist.

Wedding Reception•Reviewed on July 6, 2013•From Sandy Spring, MD

Alan's music was the perfect background to our wedding reception. He is a very accomplished musician, and he selected the music according to my admittedly vague instructions, but seemed to pick up exactly on what variety of genres we'd like to hear. We were in a smallish historic mansion, and he adjusted the sound level to be just right - not too loudly that persons couldn't talk, but not too softly that we could hear the delightful music he played. He is very easy to work with, communicates clearly, is prompt and professional. I could not recommend him more highly!

Celebration•Reviewed on October 31, 2012•From Annapolis, MD

Alan was very pleasant and open-minded as we planned the event. (My son & daughter-in-law had been married at the courthouse, but wanted to have a ceremony in front of friends and family at our home. They wanted pop culture references in their musical selections, & Alan was very accommodating about their unconventional requests.) Alan arrived early & worked with us to set up his space. He was patient with me as I repeatedly accidentally unplugged his amplifier! Once the guests arrived, he and the guitarist began playing lovely, familiar tunes that added ambience to the event. They were friendly to guests, & easy to work with it. A nice man & good musician.

Funeral•Reviewed on August 23, 2012•From Owings Mills, MD

Alan Oresky did a superb job in every way as the solo musician performing at the graveside service for my father's funeral and for the gathering after the service at a nearby club. He was early for the service, very respectful, accommodating, and sensitive to the situation. His performance of "Ashokan Farewell" was stunning and memorable, to say the least. Many thanks to him for helping us honor our beloved father with such dignity, grace, and artistry.

We highly recommend Alan as a performer for any event. He performed wonderfully at our event, entertaining guests between songs as well. He arrived early and set up, was ready and willing as weather changed some of the plans, and was very accommodating to all requests. We also included him on a carriage ride through downtown Leesburg - which turned heads and entertained the public. Alan was a great addition to our special day. Lori and Randy ...

We highly recommend Alan to anyone looking for a violinist for their wedding! Incredibly responsive to questions we had in the lead-up to the big day, Alan was very professional. He also played at our cocktail reception where he was an especially big hit. We had countless guests tell us how much they loved his performance. He was the icing on the cake of a beautiful day. And to anyone trying to decide between a band, DJ, or solo musician for their wedding - go with Alan! Not only is he easy to work with and charges a very reasonable rate but I think his performance added an intimate and romantic touch that you might not always get with a DJ or band. Thank you!

Wedding Ceremony•Reviewed on July 4, 2011•From Havre de Grace, MD

Alan is an extremely talented musician who put the icing on the cake of my ceremony. He arrived on time (a little early actually), consulted me if he had any questions, and he was very professional and personable. Alan plays a wide range of music, and was able to make my husband happy by playing "Devil Went Down to Georgia." I would highly recommend Alan to play for any occasion... he was fantastic!
