Wedding Reception•Reviewed on February 18, 2013•From Baltimore, MD
We were very pleased with St. Charles String Quartet. We received many compliments from our guests about the quality of the music, and the guests seemed to very much enjoy all the interpretations of modern pieces. I only wish we hadn't been so busy so we could have spent more time listening.

The music sounded beautiful and all our wedding guests cannot stop talking about how amazing it was to have a live string quartet at our wedding...especially a string quartet playing unexpected pop music! They were perfect! Neil was efficient in responding to e-mails, and he answered my questions promptly and professionally! I definitely recommend this quartet for your wedding needs! Thank you guys!

I paid for the string trio and they were wonderful! For my ceremony, they played all Beatles music and my cocktail hour was a mix of 80's and 90's music. My guests were very impressed and loved their professionalism. I'd definitely recommend them in the future!

Many of my guests commented about how talented the string quartet was and how much they liked it! The mix of classic and current songs really made the ceremony/cocktail hour since the older generation enjoyed the more traditional music and the younger generation wasn't falling asleep due to boredom. I highly recommend St. Charles to anyone who needs a string quartet for a function, they handled my last minute requests without issue and were self sufficient at the ceremony (setting up and being where they needed to be without anyone holding their hands). They were great!

We hired St. Charles String Trio for our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour prior to the reception. Honestly, everything was such a blur that the only songs I can remember them playing are the wedding march, and accompanying our soloist on her two songs during the ceremony (during the cocktail hour we were getting pictures). From what I heard and can remember, the musicians were great. They also looked great- well dressed and professional. After the musicians left, several people commented on how wonderful they were. I only wish I could have heard more!

AMAZING performance, just a few minor problems. I got a phone call a few days before the wedding saying that the leader had an emergency and couldn't attend but that everything would be taken care of which was fine. We went over the set list again and they Okayed everything just to confirm. They were on time and played all of my requests and sounded great. The only thing was they played the wrong song for the recessional which was really disappointing since it was my wedding, and I had confirmed it multiple times. Also, one of the players was wearing sun glasses on top of her head which was a little unprofessional for a formal event. Still, would highly recommend.

There is no denying this is a talented bunch. However, the professionalism is not great. They arrived not having their playlist which caused them to hunt me down while I was getting ready asking for a playlist. As a bride on her wedding day a play list should be the last of my worries since this was confirmed weeks in advance. I paid for two hours of playing and did not get two hours of playing. I am calling to file a complaint and to get a partial refund for time that was not played. I was told they dont play in the rain however it did not rain. This left me furious.

My wedding was over a year and half ago, but I still get very angry thinking of it. I emailed the group before booking and was contacted back by Neil. I told him that this would be a catholic wedding and he assured me they would be able to play at the appropriate parts because he, himself, was catholic. He also told me he would be able to sing some parts during the ceremony. At the wedding, their playing was not as great as I was led to believe from the reviews. In addition, there were a lot of very long , awkward silences while the priest waited for the music to begin. However, Neil does have a beautiful voice. I would not recommend this group for catholic masses.

We used two musicians from St. Charles String Quartet for our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. The primary contact, Neil, was very responsive and helped answer my many questions and special requests. There were a couple songs that I wanted to incorporate into the processional/recessional and the musicians did a great job. The only negative I can think of is that we had trouble hearing the duo during the cocktail hour. I think this is largely due to the lively conversation amongst the guests, but I felt the music was a bit drowned out. If you are looking to use string instruments into your wedding, you may want to consider going with a trio or the full quartet.
