FundraiserReviewed on April 22, 2012From Cleveland, OH

I would give Different Hats SIX STARS for everything. It was such pleasure working with them. We only needed a 4-piece outfit and it was no problem for them to scale the band down to meet our room size. They were very flexible in working with us regarding the few unforeseen obstacles that arose and took everything in stride. And oh, the music! Ours was a 1920s party and DH did an excellent job of playing tunes from that era and mixing in tunes from later eras but in a nice jazzland style. The vocalist had the soul and style of a 20s nightclub singer. The two dance instructors got the room up and doing the Charleston in no time. Terrific!

Different Hats made our 1920's themed event a huge success! Everyone loved their performances and they were great to work with. They were both professional and fun. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a great live band!

Had the 7 piece band at our wedding, and they were fantastic! We got so many complements on the band, and they really made the evening something special.

Club EventReviewed on September 5, 2011From Fort Wayne, IN

Ron and the band were absolutely wonderful to work with! I hope that we can use them for future Club events. EVERYONE enjoyed the band, and commented that it wasn't too loud during the dinner hour. The music selection was terrific and the band was VERY accommodating. I highly recommend Different Hats for your event!

Wedding ReceptionReviewed on September 5, 2016From Erie, PA

Outstanding! Exceeded our high expectations. It "made" the wedding reception and everyone still talking about the band and the beautiful voice. They are worth way more than what they charge!! So glad we had heard them at another wedding as I knew right then we had to have them for ours! They were the highlight of the evening! Could not have asked for anything better. Truly! ??

The band was fantastic. Everyone really enjoyed the music. The vocalist was wonderful! We could not have been happier. Ron was easy to communicate with before the wedding and with all the details of the song list we wanted, etc. We would HIGHLY recommend this band! If I could give them more than a 5 star review I would!!

Wedding ReceptionReviewed on August 18, 2014From Fort Wayne, IN

Their 7 piece ensemble played for a wedding reception. They were responsive and accommodating during planning (from contracting up to the event). They were professional, sounded great, had an extensive repertoire (which they shared with us during planning so we could request specific tunes). They were accommodating throughout the event and helped with announcing.

FuneralReviewed on June 5, 2013From Berne, IN

OUTSTANDING!!! We had a traditional New Orleans Funeral and the band played traditional dirges for the Funeral March to the grave and then opend up to more lively New Orleas Music for the Second Line March. We also had them play at the luncheon following the funeral, a different venue, and all went off without a hitch. These guys know what they are doing and I would use them again. Great Job and Thanks so much for making a funeral as much fun as one could be. Truley a memoriable experience.

Our clients enjoyed the band at our Roaring Twenties themed event. I received many positive comments. Yes we would book them again if the need arose. They were at our event for 3 hours not the 2 as listed above. They were on time set up and ready to go when we had requested. We needed them to play a couple of more songs during their first set because we were not quite ready for our presentation portion of the night and they did. They were very professional and even let us use there mics when our sound system got some bugs in it. Great job at our client party.

EventReviewed on May 20, 2017From Galesburg, IL

Sadly, we were VERY disappointed in their performance. It appears that there was very little effort put into coordinating this event. We contracted for 7 musicians: only 5 played. We had no singer and no drummer. Although the clarinet player was very talented, the trumpet player was not great. It appeared this collection of musicians had not ever played together. They played very little 20s music and really never transitioned to contemporary music. It was impossible to dance to this group. They also failed to cancel a hotel room they didn't need. When asked to play music that we could dance to, there was NO attempt made to accommodate our request. No go!

:

Live music has pitfalls. Sadly, things can happen. Our female vocalist had a baby five days prior. Clients were told when they booked she might not be available. However, the male vocalist DID sing all night. Three performers had a breakdown together. We didn't know until too late to cancel the hotel room. We diligently searched, and found one substitute player. We played 20's music for over an hour, and transitioned to more modern as instructed, including songs like "Mustang Sally" and "Save the Last Dance." We hire the best professionals available. Anyone can have an off night. Every effort was made to communicate and accommodate, including apologies and discount.

They were very professional and sounded great! It was everything I hoped for when I started looking for a band with that big band sound!
