A very challenging event. Heavy rain that included a tornado watch, 30+ mile per hour wind, with the event in a tent that flooded. The sides of the tent were not adequately secured, and several of the support poles lifted during the wind. During the introductions, standing in water up to my shoelaces, the wind caught the paper I was using to read the names and interrupted me momentarily. I caught it before it blew completely away. It is impossible to anticipate such situations. You do the best you can. The alternative was to refuse to perform in these conditions, which bordered on unsafe, using electrical equipment standing in water. Thanks for your understanding.Review by Dave S.

One of those gigs better not done. Got there early to make sure load in and set up went well, afternoon DC traffic. Parking arranged in advance not provided. Security was rude from the outset, treated like a terrorist trying to resolve parking. More concerned about texting on her phone. Told to load in the front door. Walking in, I was stopped, told to load it all back into my car, move 30 feet, and load it all again. With their delays, I would have not started on time if I had arrived "on time." Was asked to play overtime, it was so "bad." Never been treated this rudely in 35 years. These are diplomats, guests in the USA? Rudeness must be an Australian tenet.Review by Suzanne I.

Do the math. Songs run about 4 minutes in length. This means only 15 songs can get played in 60 minutes. With the list I was given, it was impossible to play EVERY request. EVERY song played during the event was either from the list, or a guest request. The equipment used was more than adequate for the dance floor area. Where I was directed to set up directed the speakers to the dance floor, not where the guests were seated. Had the music been turned up loud enough to hear at the far end of the room, there would have been complaints from guests where I was that the volume was too loud. The coordination of room layout could have been better. Beyond my control.Review by Melany G.

The good: Yes, I played the song list. The bad: All the songs I played, but not on the song list, were specific request from your staff. Yes, Beth, one of the ladies requested it, regardless of whether you doubt it or not. Same for Doin' Da Butt by EU. Personally, I like 20s and 30s jazz music, so I have no personal reason or motivation to play either of these. Frankly, I had enough of Bee Gees and EU when the stuff was current and popular. Would you have preferred me to have told them no, I am not going to play your request? And your crowd danced all night. Give me a break.
