Christmas PartyReviewed on December 16, 2013From Arlington, VA

Thanks to Jeff, our Christmas party was relaxing and a blast! He engaged with the guests and took requests that encouraged everyone to get up and dance. Everyone complimented his ability to create an atmosphere that they all enjoyed. I will be scheduling him for all future parties. Jane Raap

Birthday Party (Adult)Reviewed on March 9, 2015From Orange, VA

We had a special request that Jeff make announcements in between songs to advise the attendees of life facts about my grandfather. He did so in such a professional manner -- sounded just like a radio announcer. At one point during the party someone asked me if we were listening to the radio because of Jeff's phenomenal voice.

Wedding ReceptionReviewed on June 29, 2015From Tilghman, MD

Jeff arrived early and weathered a very severe storm to get to the event. He communicated very professionally prior to the event and managed everything appropriately during the event. A few flubs when announcing the wedding party- but recovered quickly!

:

A very challenging event. Heavy rain that included a tornado watch, 30+ mile per hour wind, with the event in a tent that flooded. The sides of the tent were not adequately secured, and several of the support poles lifted during the wind. During the introductions, standing in water up to my shoelaces, the wind caught the paper I was using to read the names and interrupted me momentarily. I caught it before it blew completely away. It is impossible to anticipate such situations. You do the best you can. The alternative was to refuse to perform in these conditions, which bordered on unsafe, using electrical equipment standing in water. Thanks for your understanding.

WeddingReviewed on May 5, 2014From Hamilton, VA

Mike was great! We had a variety of music we wanted played with a fairly short time frame to work with, but he got all our requests in and did a wonderful job announcing the parents and bridal party. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who wants a DJ that is professional and can keep the dance floor packed!

WeddingReviewed on June 7, 2015From Winchester, VA

Jeff played fantastic music and kept the dance floor going all night! I was thrilled with that, especially because of how affordable his rates were. I felt like he had a somewhat surly attitude throughout the night, however, (this was commented on by my maid of honor so I know it wasn't only me who noticed). He was also a little challenging to work with in advance of the event because he kept questioning and challenging my requests in a way that felt insulting and patronizing, though I don't think that was his intention. Overall though I'd recommend because he did his job and played excellent music and the dancing was a blast!

Jeff did an ok job at our wedding, I know my wife Erin was not as pleased. Some miscues with equipment between the DJ and one of the bridesmaids singing and 2 readings.

Happy HourReviewed on May 28, 2014From Washington, DC

We were disappointed with the service Jeff provided. Jeff arrived 2 hours earlier than agreed & expected staff to be available during working hours to facilitate his set-up. This was unexpected & inconvenient. Jeff treated Security with the utmost rudeness and staff had to intervene to diffuse his temper on 2 occasions. During the event Jeff DJ'd satisfactorily, however we will not use Jeff Davis again nor would we recommend him as a DJ due to the incidents outlined above.

:

One of those gigs better not done. Got there early to make sure load in and set up went well, afternoon DC traffic. Parking arranged in advance not provided. Security was rude from the outset, treated like a terrorist trying to resolve parking. More concerned about texting on her phone. Told to load in the front door. Walking in, I was stopped, told to load it all back into my car, move 30 feet, and load it all again. With their delays, I would have not started on time if I had arrived "on time." Was asked to play overtime, it was so "bad." Never been treated this rudely in 35 years. These are diplomats, guests in the USA? Rudeness must be an Australian tenet.

High School ReunionReviewed on August 21, 2019From McLean, VA

I think everyone thought Jeff did a great job. He followed the play list and he knew just when to play certain songs to fit the mood! He filled happy requests! He had a feel for the crowd and followed all the cues! One perfect timing was when we did our toast to our Old school TJHS, that now has changed into something so different. He played our Graduation song on cue, while we got our champagne glasses filled. We read our Alma Mater, then we did our Toast. Then He played "Changes" by David Bowie... which was so absolutely perfect it gave me chills! Jeff was a great DJ! Thank You ~ Suzie Powell Ikenberry '74 TJHS

BanquetReviewed on June 3, 2018From Alexandria, VA

Jeff (and his wife Laura) did an exceptional job in set up, music composition, and overall support for the National War College class of 2018 Graduation Gala. Everything went exceptionally well and I will definitely put Jeff's details in our handover packet for the class of 2019.

Wedding ReceptionReviewed on January 14, 2018From Dulles, VA

Jeff was the DJ that we selected for our wedding reception. He was very personable, and easy to work with. He was also very accommodating, and responsive to my emails and calls. Prior to the reception, Jeff requested a song list from my husband and I, which we provided to him. He informed me that he would play from the song list and take any guest requests during the reception. However, after our wedding reception, guests informed us that Jeff did not accept their song requests. Also, Jeff did not bring ample speakers to the venue, and my husband and I could not hear most of the music or toasts from our bridal table. Very disappointing.

:

Do the math. Songs run about 4 minutes in length. This means only 15 songs can get played in 60 minutes. With the list I was given, it was impossible to play EVERY request. EVERY song played during the event was either from the list, or a guest request. The equipment used was more than adequate for the dance floor area. Where I was directed to set up directed the speakers to the dance floor, not where the guests were seated. Had the music been turned up loud enough to hear at the far end of the room, there would have been complaints from guests where I was that the volume was too loud. The coordination of room layout could have been better. Beyond my control.

WeddingReviewed on January 23, 2017From Middleburg, VA

Jeff did an amazing job for our wedding. He was responsive with requests, he communicated with us regarding our needs for the wedding, he helped make the wedding run smooth. The dance floor was full of guests - some people who usually don't dance even came to the dance floor! We had very specific requests for our ceremony and Jeff followed them all. Arranging eveything was so easy without Jeff. It was a dream to work with him and we would definitely book Jeff again.

Corporate FunctionReviewed on December 12, 2016From Mount Vernon, VA

Jeff and his team showed up early to set up and were ready for guests once they started arriving. Pete, the saxophonist, was phenomenal and added a touch of class to our cocktail hour. Jeff did a great job in making announcements for our events during the dinner and worked hard to get to know our company so he could relate to us. The selection of music was top-notch and covered all musical interests in our group as well as spanned the generations. From start to finish Davis DJs was friendly, professional, and helpful. I will definitely hire them again whether it is a personal event or an office event! Outstanding!

WeddingReviewed on November 26, 2016From Richmond, VA

Jeff Davis was absolutely spectacular. As someone who specifically did not want to have to create my own playlist but wanted my guests to have an amazing time, Jeff was the perfect pick. We provided him with some song preferences and he managed all of the rest. I had one guest seek me out on the dance floor and ask if I created the playlist because it was really amazing. He did a great job reading the dance floor and helped advise on when to do things like cut the cake and throw the bouquet based on the mood in the room. I would 100% hire him again for any event requiring a DJ for entertainment =)

Wedding ReceptionReviewed on February 16, 2016From Potomac, MD

We booked Jeff for a wedding ceremony and reception and were very pleased with the experience. We had a tricky venue but Jeff was able to provide music for us in multiple rooms. The day of we shifted some of the events around like cutting the cake and first dance and he was able to adapt and keep the flow going smoothly. It turned out to be a great day!

Laura was very polite and professional. She showed up early and was set up by the time I arrived about 10 minutes before our party was scheduled to start. I definitely recommend Jeff Davis DJs.

Holiday PartyReviewed on December 16, 2015From Bethesda, MD

Jeff did fine for our staff holiday party but not great. I'm honestly surprised by all the rave reviews, which is what led me to book him. The good: He played the songs that our staff had requested beforehand. The bad: Our staff is pretty young so we requested that beyond our song list, he play mostly contemporary music, which is not what happened. For instance, I remember him playing Staying Alive, which I doubt anyone requested since it cleared the dance floor. At the end of the night, he went out with Doin' the Butt, a song from 1988. Really?

:

The good: Yes, I played the song list. The bad: All the songs I played, but not on the song list, were specific request from your staff. Yes, Beth, one of the ladies requested it, regardless of whether you doubt it or not. Same for Doin' Da Butt by EU. Personally, I like 20s and 30s jazz music, so I have no personal reason or motivation to play either of these. Frankly, I had enough of Bee Gees and EU when the stuff was current and popular. Would you have preferred me to have told them no, I am not going to play your request? And your crowd danced all night. Give me a break.
