1. Weekend-Long Celebrations

“We are continuing to see milestone celebrations that include traveling to a destination to celebrate all weekend long,” shared Lisa Jaroscak, Owner & Creative Director of Elegante Weddings & Events. “There is a strong desire for valuing quality time and togetherness, and all being in one place for an extended period of time is a way to ensure that is possible."

Cathy O'Connell, Co-Founder & Creative Director of COJ Events added, “The guest experience is everything. We’re seeing weekend-long celebrations where friends and family truly connect — from welcome dinners and morning-after brunches to group excursions that extend the joy.”

2. Multi-Event Celebrations

Not only are weekend-long celebrations in, they're also filled with multiple celebrations throughout the weekend.

Amy Abbott, Owner & Creative Director of Amy Abbott Events shared, “One major shift is the rise of the multi-event celebration: a welcome soirée to set the tone, a beach bash with custom-branded guest merch, and a finale that moves from a psychedelic 70s dinner into a Mayan Maverick, Burning Man–inspired afterparty complete with full build installs, arched facades, performers, fire features, and transformative lighting.”

3. Immersive Themes & Spaces

“2026’s most exciting event themes are immersive: jungle-rainforest, sci-fi/futuristic, festival-inspired, even dream circus,” shared Michelle Durpetti, Founder of Michelle Durpetti Events.

Michelle added, “As an Italian-destination expert, I’m blending these concepts with cultural nuance — picture an Amalfi-coast “festival” soirée under the stars, with lounge-club vibes, artisanal gelato stations, and DJ sets that flow into dinner, followed by an elegant lounge under a moonlit veranda.

Gone are the days when décor was an afterthought. In 2026, texture, lighting, seating flows, interactive details all combine to tell a story. Think woven-grass lounge furniture paired with polished stainless steel accents; think dramatic color palettes like cobalt blue or saturated jewel tones. I’m even obsessing over monochromatic tablescapes these days! For our luxury clients in Tuscany or the Italian Riviera, this might mean: an olive-grove lounge with moss-lined bars, custom projection mapping on Florentine stone walls, and artisan pieces that bring an elevated feel of place.

4. Technology

“Technology must fade into the background so it can elevate the experience," shared Michelle Durpetti, Founder of Michelle Durpetti Events. "Hybrid audiences need to feel equal to in-room guests; chatbots, personalized feeds, AR/LED installations are becoming part of the fabric of the celebration. This might look like a live projection of guest messages for the birthday person onto columns at dusk, or a bespoke app that guides attendees through cocktail pairings or olive-oil tastings — seamlessly integrated and elegantly branded.

5. Sustainability

“Luxury is no longer just about opulence, it’s about authenticity, craftsmanship and conscience. Whether we’re planning a gala or a 2026 wedding, we’re seeing clients prioritize local sourcing, artisan collaborations, and zero-waste principles. For example: commissioning a Tuscan ceramics maker for bespoke table décor, using estate-grown produce for the menu, or selecting biodegradable elements without sacrificing style,” shared Michelle Durpetti, Founder of Michelle Durpetti Events.

6. Ultra-Modernism

“In 2026, I’m expecting to see ultra-modernism take center stage — sleek lines, sculptural shapes, and minimalist layouts that feel almost futuristic,” shared Kit Ruth, Wedding Director & Lead Wedding Designer of The Perfect Petal. “Party design is moving toward cleaner spaces with dramatic lighting, reflective materials, and curated art-style installations. It’s less about excess and more about precision and statement moments that feel like a blend between an art gallery and a social event.”

7. Monochrome Design

“Monochrome events are continuing to evolve — single-color palettes that create an immersive, cohesive mood,” shared Kit Ruth, Wedding Director & Lead Wedding Designer of The Perfect Petal. “Think super color — an event draped in all cobalt blues from linens to chairs to tabletop details, or colors woven into the lighting details. These events make a striking visual statement and photograph beautifully. Expect texture layering to replace traditional color contrast: velvets, silks, glass, and matte finishes all working together within one hue family.”

8. Fabric-Draped Florals

“The rise of fabric-draped florals reflects a soft, romantic shift in design. Florals aren’t standing alone anymore — they’re integrated with textiles, gauzy drapes, or sculptural fabric forms that add depth and motion. This creates a dynamic, almost theatrical environment, where the flowers feel like they’re part of a larger art installation. It also allows designers to blend organic and human-made materials in new, harmonious ways,” shared Kit Ruth, Wedding Director & Lead Wedding Designer of The Perfect Petal.

9. Twisted Florals

“Twisted florals — literal twists, spirals, and suspended floral structures — will dominate in 2026,” shared Kit Ruth, Wedding Director & Lead Wedding Designer of The Perfect Petal. “Expect asymmetry, movement, and a bit of avant-garde energy. Designers are exploring unexpected shapes, vines, and wiring techniques to make flowers appear as though they’re floating or defying gravity. It’s a shift away from traditional /whimsical arrangements toward something more sculptural and expressive.”

10. Mixed Metals

“Modern mixed metals will stay popular, especially in tablescapes, lighting, and décor,” shared Kit Ruth, Wedding Director & Lead Wedding Designer of The Perfect Petal. “The trend moves beyond just gold and silver — incorporating brushed nickel, bronze, and even tinted chrome for depth and contrast. Rather than matching perfectly, the new look embraces deliberate combinations that add richness and sophistication, echoing the diversity of textures and tones in other design elements.”

11. Personalization

“The best parties in 2026 are crafted around personality, not perfection,” shared Cathy O'Connell, Co-Founder & Creative Director of COJ Events. “Hosts are leaning into what feels authentic — from recreating favorite travel destinations or eras, to building menus inspired by family recipes or inside jokes.”

12. Interactive Entertainment

”Entertainment is becoming more interactive: live sketch artists, pop-up mixologists, custom scent bars, and even personalized playlists mixed in real time. Guests don’t just attend — they participate,” shared Cathy O'Connell, Co-Founder & Creative Director of COJ Events.

Angela Carter of Carter Group Creative added, "We’re seeing an exciting surge in roaming interactive entertainment and we love it! Guests want to be part of the action, and these mobile experiences are changing the party game in all the right ways by bringing the fun right to them.

Roaming photo activations featuring QR codes or instant text-to-phone options are proving to be major hits, capturing memories in real time and giving guests shareable memories on the spot. Roaming balloon artists bring an extra dose of fun to family and kids’ events, keeping little ones (and adults) entertained throughout. And it’s not just about entertainment. The trend is expanding into food and drinks on the move. Roaming food and beverage experiences are redefining guest engagement. Think beyond the classic tray-passed hors d’oeuvres. Picture servers moving through the room offering interactive bites and sips where guests mix their own garnishes into cocktails or build personalized mini charcuterie creations from a roving tray. This new wave of roaming entertainment turns every corner of an event into an experience and ensures that no guest misses a moment of the action.”

Pro Tip: Book interactive entertainers and vendors like balloon artistsmagicians, caricaturists, bartenders, or caterers on The Bash to bring interactive moments directly to your guests.

13. Shared Experiences

"Creativity is showing up in communal dining and thoughtful, experience-driven details,” shared Valarie Falvey, Founder and Team Manager of Kirkbrides Wedding Planning & Design. “Rehearsal dinners are leaning toward shared, curated menus that feel intimate and celebratory. Post-wedding brunches are becoming more personal and nostalgic with touches like live music, locally roasted coffee as a take-home gift, a mini newspaper recapping the weekend, or regional treats like hometown candy for the trip home. It’s all about making guests feel part of something special, warm, and joyfully human."

14. Experiential Design

“Across all types of celebrations, we’re seeing a move toward curated experiential design,” shared Cathy O'Connell, Co-Founder & Creative Director of COJ Events. “Hosts are embracing rich, curated color palettes — think rust and rose for anniversaries, oceanic blues with metallic accents for milestone birthdays, and elevated pastels with a modern edge for kids’ celebrations. Décor is storytelling-driven: custom lighting, sculptural florals, and statement installations that create “wow” moments without feeling overdone.”
