Born in Indiana, trumpeter and electric bassist Jackie Coleman is well trained in a wide variety of musical styles. After receiving a Bachelors degree from Indiana University and a Masters degree from NYU, she decided to pursue music in New York and work full-time as a freelance musician. She won a 2017 Latin Grammy with the all-female group Flor de Toloache for their album "Las Caras Lindas." In the past she has worked with artists such as Solange, Leon Bridges, Wu-tang Clan, Kali Uchis, Miguel, Natalia Lafourcade, Mon Leferte, Cuco, and Chris Perez. She has also performed internationally at festivals including Pori Jazz in Finland, the Molde Jazz Festival in Norway, the Festival des Hauts Garonne in Bordeaux, the Redentore Festival in Venice, Stanser Musiktage in Stans, Gottingen Jazz Festival in Gottingen, the Jazz Peru Festival in Peru, Colombia al Parque in Bogota, Montreux Festival in Switzerland as well as at the Kennedy Center in D.C. Currently she can be seen performing with Durand Jones and The Indications, Antibalas, Mariachi Flor de Toloache, Gato Loco (psycho-mambo), StringsNSkins (Colombia meets Haiti), Calpulli Mexican Dance, Sophie Auster, Grupo Rebolu, and Dawn Drake (world music), and many many more artists.
