'60s Party Theme
Make party, not war.
About the Theme
The ‘60s were a time of great cultural change—aka counterculture. The music scene was singing of love and togetherness, fashion trends were bursting with bold colors and the party scene was reinvented. Incorporate touches of tie-dye into the decor, but let the foundation of the atmosphere rest on vintage furniture pieces and antiques from your local thrift store. (Rentals are also a great short-term usage option.) Oh, and beaded curtains adorning the entrance doesn’t hurt either.

Loft
Rent a loft space that’s big enough to accommodate a large guest list with plenty of space for live music. Basically, if it can accomodate your own version of Woodstock, you should be good to go.

Lemon Bar
Lemon bars hit their peak in the '60s when everyone and their mother wanted to put their juicer to the test. At least one batch of these tangy treats would end up at the neighborhood dinner party.

Retro Flower Designs
Bring out the flower power—large lower motifs adorned everything from VW vans to wallpaper and clothing designs. Add them into your design scheme with big, bold colors, or if you want to play with florals on a smaller scale, mix in softer paisley patterns.
