Mellow-D is a group of well versed, talented top musicians that have formed an allience to offer quality entertainment to clients. Their musical backgrounds expand 4 continents with all of the major hubs from Vegas to New York with a musical library of whose who. All are prolific professionals in their own right on their instruments whether as a soloist in concert or as an accompanist with the ensemble. Mellow-D plays jazz for dinners, wedding parties, country clubs, concerts {opening acts), cruise ships and can top off the night with dance music from the electric slide to a shag shuffle. You like the blues or a sweet bossa nova, then Mellow-D is your band. A clean cut, sharp dressed band that has learned how to entertain an audience. If special music is needed, fret not with a group of three well seasoned arrangers who can put out the chart and music just the way you want it. Mellow-D is a fun band for your entertainment purposes. Mellow-D has performed locally at the Historic Partridge Inn in Augusta, Georgia. MELLOW-D performs other venues in the South-east including The Candlelight Jazz Series, Columbia County Jazz Series and The Art in The Heart of Augusta Festival. (All pictures in this promotional taken by Larry Gleason.) CHRIS MANGELLY: Chris is the son of a local musical family. He studied at Augusta College and The Philadelphia Music Academy resulting in a degree in performance and composition from the latter in 1971. Performing internationally on cruise lines following several years as a touring musician with such stars as Red Skelton and David 'Fathead' Newman, he has also conducted orchestras in Summerstock Theater around the Philadelphia area. As a solo artist with The Augusta Symphony, pianist with the fusion band known as John Doe, Mangelly's talent are vastly wide. As the vision driver for the Jazz ensemble The Garden City Allstars, he found himself as the band's leader and introduced Augusta's first community big band jazz ensemble to the Southeast. He was pianist for the Augusta Jazz Project Big Band, and now currently plays with the Channellheimer Oompah Band and MELLOW-D. He is also the Network Administator for Augusta Technical College. JOHN 'SONNY' PICKETT: Sonny is originally from Camden, SC. He has been married for 43 years and has 4 daughters and 3 grandchildren. Sonny recieved a bachelors degree in Chemistry from Paine College and a Masters in Education from Augusta State University. He is a retired educator after serving 30 years. Sonny now follows a long time passion to play music. He has performed with a variety of stars, both national and international including B.J. Thomas, Brooke Benton, Jackie Moore, Jerry Harris and The Will Noble Affair. PAM BOWMAN: Pam was born in Tennessee but later formed roots in Chicago and eventually rested her youthfulness in Kansas City. Her parents were ministers so Pam found herself singing most of her songs in church. Pam has toured and performed in Europe as well as in Japan with members of the famed S.O.S. Band. Pam has also worked with greats such as Betty Wright, Roy C., William Bell, Tony Cook and members of the James Brown Band. NOT GADDY: Not is a native of Winston-Salem, NC where he started performing and entertaining at an early age imitating greats as Bo Didley and James Brown at talent shows. Not has performed on 4 of the 7 continents and enjoys sharing the rhythm of life. Not studies took him to Winston Salem State University and later to Hawaii where he studied percussion. Not became a Military musician and expanded his skills. Currently owner of Music Business Concepts, Inc. and IDRUM2U Drum and Piano Music Studio in Augusta, Georgia he is continually imparting what he has learned to today's youth. Former choral middle school teacher Not also taught drums at the Holtz School for boys in Wurxburg, Germany. Known for providing a steady groove, Not has graced the stage with such stars as Brooke Benton, Don Macey, Wycliffe Gordon, Russel Joel Brown, Ababatsu African Dancers, Augusta Players, Toby Boone, Buzz Clifford and the Augusta Symphony. Active MENC, PAS and Greater Augusta Arts member. Not is currently a artist in resident for the State of South Carolina Arts Commission.
