Pure. Bell-like. Sensual. These are some of the words that have verb used to describe Linda Rio's voice. A voice that is a unique blend of a classically trained coloratura soprano and the sultry, romantic, "quiet fire" sound of the greats of a romantic, bygone era. Originally from Miami, Linda earned her Bachelor of Music from the University of Miami School of Music, where, in addition to her extensive studies in UM's Studio Music and Jazz program with fellow classmates Jon Secada, Andy Timmons, and Lari White, she furthered her acting and vocal studies with Mary Buckley, and recording and production skills in the Music Engineering Technology program. As an in-demand vocalist for stage and studio work, Linda's talents took her to Dallas, where he love for musical theater won her the leads in several productions, including Oklahoma! and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. While in Dallas, she also continued her voice studies with Grant Williams. Inspired by the artistry of the great songwriters of the past such as Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hart, and Jerome Kern, Linda sings timeless classics from stage and screen, but also brings her style to unique arrangements of music from modern, and somewhat unexpected artists, such as Tina Dico and Jack White. Many of these arrangements can be heard as part of a new collection of concert material and on her upcoming album, due out in 2014. Linda Rio is truly an artist whose voice embodies the warmth, intimacy, and timeless beauty of the classic female voice, a beauty and purity rarely heard in these modern times, and does so with an artistry that honors the best of the past while embracing the future.
