He has been featured on the cover of music and arts magazines, including The Valley Advocate (3 times!), and has performed at legendary venues all over the country, including New York's CBGBs and the Knitting Factory, and, locally at every venue, including The Calvin Theater, Academy of Music, Pines Theater, Iron Horse, and the Green River Festival.

Russell is a very talented musician, and gets even better as time goes on. I’ve enjoyed his performance since Aloha Steamtrain shows in the 90’s. His new style of music set a gentle, pleasant mood for the party with his beautiful original compositions. I was transported while I listened and let Russell take over entertaining at my party. For my friend, he set aside his guitar to perform some Elvis tunes with recorded backing tracks. He belted out the hits, and gently crooned as he walked through the crowd, kissing hands, cracking jokes and melting hearts.  Russ made working with him easy. He’s a real pro and a lovely person.

I contracted w/Russ to play a gig for a large private party, just him and guitar + electronics. The mechanics of working with him were absolutely seamless, from negotiation to setting-up and breaking down, it was smooth as silk. And the music! Russ produced gorgeous songs with his superb tenor and guitar improvs taking flight from Brazilian passages that he would then ‘loop’ and solo against. The effect on the audience was utterly mesmerizing and captivating. He played songs by a few great songsmith, plus several of his own magical compositions/lyrics. When Russ settled into a groove, the sounds flowed forth with little apparent effort. Absolutely recommended!
