Silhouettes are essentially a miniature portrait in profile. My work is done free hand without any drawing, or mechanical gimmicks. A good silhouette must be done accurately and quickly - a skill that takes years to acquire. When I am performing, I “draw with my scissors” - literally cutting what I see. Few people have seen a proper silhouette artist work live and find the experience entertaining, memorable and somewhat mystifying. Guests often ask “how do you do that?” as they see their likeness emerge from a piece of cut paper. Weddings are a particular specialty of mine whereby I create two silhouettes simultaneously. One copy is used to create and unique, personalized guest book for the bride and groom. The second silhouette is mounted on 5 x7 cardstock for the guest as a special keepsake. Silhouette artists are not commonly seen performing in this "modern" age. I enjoy creating silhouettes and watching people experience this rarely seen art form first hand.
