THE NEW HIP REPLACEMENTS is a high-energy, 9-piece cover band that plays a tasty range of horn-driven R&B/soul faves, blues classics, Motown, and raunchy, hard-driving, hip-shakin' "grit rock." Your crowd is sure to have a blast––and to boogie. We pride ourselves on interacting and bonding with your crowd to create a positive vibe "happening" with enough personalized and upbeat raps to really connect with your entire crowd, generate positive community, and amp up the fun and laughs for all. Our band puts out a crazy-fun wall of sound with our male lead vocalist/trumpeter, female vocalist, saxophone man, keyboardist/vocalist, two guitarists, kick-ass bassist/vocalist, drummer, and percussionist with added backup vocals. We can scale down to 5-7 members if desired. We're perfect for birthday or anniversary bashes, weddings, corporate functions like holiday or retirement parties, community events like fundraising events or street festivals, as well as music halls, bars, or wineries. The New Hip Replacements band is led by front man and trumpet player Rick Brandon (known to his fans as "Raucous Rico"), who blends smooth and creative stylings with a a soulful rasp that the Sonoma Index-Tribune praised, saying his lead vocals "have more gravel than a cement truck!" You'll "shake a tail feather" to classic R&B/MOTOWN, (think Otis, Weilson Pickett, James Brown, Sam and Dave, etc.), BLUES (think BB, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton, Albert King, etc.), and "GRIT ROCK" tunes (think J. The New Hip Replacements cover band has a terrific sense of humor and we're incredibly flexible and easy to work with, since our core commitment is to always do the right thing by our clients...hopefully YOU! We're very experienced and professional, yet down to earth and easy going. We're pros––Our drummer has played with Bonnie Raitt and Robert Cray; our lead vocalist/trumpet player has played with many groups his entire life, opened for Cheech and Chong, and played with The Delfonics ("La La Means I Love You"); the rest of the crew are accomplished musicians who have gigged with many groups. The band is based in California's North Bay, and plays in and around San Francisco, South Bay, All of Marin County, Oakland and East Bay, South Bay and Silicon Valley, Sonoma/Napa, and Grass Valley/Nevada City. We have played famous public venues like The Sweetwater Music Hall, Throckmorton Theater, Hopmonk, Sonoma Speakeasy, Sonoma's The Reel and Murphy's, Sausalito Seahorse, Sausalito Cruising Club, No Name Bar, as well as at a range of weddings, birthdays, and other private events.
