Fathers Children, a self-contained musical group from the Washington D.C. area, has stood the proverbial “test of time.” The group has been known for their strong vocals, tight harmonies and distinct musical sound—a tradition they continue today. The group has performed with a host of notable artists, including Earth, Wind & Fire, Stevie Wonder, Teddy Pendergrass, Stephanie Mills, Frankie Beverly and Maze and many others. Fathers Children released a self-titled album on Mercury Records in 1979 in collaboration with, and produced by, Wayne Henderson of the Crusaders. That album generated both national and international airplay and popularity, particularly from the track titled “Hollywood Dreaming.” After a long hiatus to work with other musicians in the Washington D.C. area, the group reformed, due in large part to audience responses from reunion gigs. Fathers Children continues to perform locally, nationally and internationally for the past several years in a variety of venues. The group recently performed for sold-out audience events at the Carter Barron Amphitheater and Ft. DuPont Park with artists including the Bar-Kays, Bloodstone, and New Birth. In late 2007, Fathers Children released a CD titled “The Sky's The Limit” on their FC Music label that fared well for an Indy Act, receiving airplay on college radio stations and local radio stations in the Metropolitan Washington area. In June of 2011, the archival label The Numero Group discovered and released “Who's Gonna Save the World,” a collection of previously unreleased material recorded by Fathers Children back when the group first formed in 1973. That album is receiving critical acclaim and includes a track that is being sampled by artists like Kanye West as recently as January of 2016. Their new album, “Love and Life Stories,” has cross-over potential featuring classic R&B with a touch of Pop flavor. The single titled “Be Careful What You Ask For” placed number 5 on the Independent Chart Show in the U.K. You can find Fathers Children most places on the web. The group members are Tom Crosson (guitar), Leroy Ragland (guitar) Charles Robinson (drums), Qaadir Sumler (lead vocals and keyboards), Greg Ross (bass and vocals), and Ted Carpenter (lead vocals and percussion). Fathers Children is back to stay, with top-notch, crowd-pleasing musical entertainment and unyielding professionalism.
