We book shows year around and everywhere. Starting Jan 2011 we'll be touring full time nationally for a living so start locking in dates now. New radio single coming late summer 2010. In the quaint south central Pennsylvania town of Greencastle lead vocalist Ronnie Bingaman and bassist Chad Smith started a band while sophomores in high school. After various member changes, roughly recorded demos, and playing as many local shows as possible, the boys quickly started developing a fan base regionally. In 2008 the band brought on drummer Josh Swartz, which was just one piece of the puzzle. Alas their first hard lesson in the business of music soon followed when they were notified another band had already trademarked their name and didn't appreciate sharing it. Many late nights, web searches, chips and salsa, and Red Bull brought forth a new name in April 2009 as "Skyhawk Drive" was born. The lineup finally clicked within months of the new name with the addition of Ronnie's younger brother, Ridge Bingaman, on keyboards adding a whole new musical vibe and lead guitarist Kris Potter, giving the band that full high energy live sound they were looking for. The first official Skyhawk Drive release came in November 2009 entitled "Center Stage Shout Out", the first step in get radio and online attention. The band tried a free account on PureVolume not expecting much, but that quickly developed a national and international fan base that rocketed the group to the world wide Top 10 charts for four weeks straight. Through the internet the song "Their Dance, Youth Chance" found its way onto rock radio in Asia where it is receiving heavy play in Japan, China and the Philippines. The music video for the song has received rave reviews and continues to build with over 10,000 plays in just two months on YouTube. Summer 2010 found the band showcasing at Creation Music Festival, one of the largest annual Christian music festivals in the US. The band performed to over 2,000 new fans and their post-concert line for autographs and pictures lasted over 90 minutes. Clearly things are about to take off for this humble small town band. Skyhawk Drive has been blessed to perform with larger national acts including Relient K, Family Force 5, After Edmund, Thousand Foot Krutch, Run Kid Run, EleventySeven, Flatfoot 56, and this fall will be sharing the stage with John Reuben, Disciple, Satellites & Sirens, December Radio and many very talented local acts. The band's live performance is as energetic and goofy as the band is, but the one thing that audiences leave each show with is the reminder that they are loved and that they do belong. The band member's love for God plays a huge role in their music, live show, and personal interactions off stage. The van's gassed, cooler's stocked, Ridge's iPod charged, Josh's new custom Risen Drums lovingly packed in the trailer; Skyhawk Drive is hitting the road and they'll be rockin' you soon.
