Joshua Thomas Diaz Opera Singer from San Angelo, TX

Joshua Thomas Diaz, native of San Angelo, Texas, is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance, Music History and a Minor in Italian. Josh performed with Opera ND, the Notre Dame Chorale, and the Notre Dame Symphony Orchestra. With Opera ND, Josh played Francis Flute/Thisby in Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream, understudy for the title role in Gounod's Faust, Bénédict in Berlioz's Béatrice and Bénédict, the title role in Les Contes d'Hoffman, and the roles of Don Basilio and Don Curzio in Le nozze di Figaro. Josh is currently continuing his studies at Peabody Conservatory with Dr. Stanley Cornett while he pursues the Graduate Performance Diploma in Opera. He recently graduated with his Master of Music in Voice. While at Peabody, he created the role of Caliban Buchanan's Ariel's Tempest, as well as played the role of Judge Danforth in Peabody's production of The Crucible. He recently sang the role of Hadji in Peabody's production of Delibes Lakmé. Josh also sang the tenor solos in The Defiant Requiem – Verdi in Terézin this April with the Peabody Symphony Orchestra and the Peabody/Hopkins Chorus. This past fall. Josh sang the role of the Chevalier de la Force in Peabody Opera's Performance of Poulenc's Les Dialogues des Carmélites. Currently, he is working on several concert performances and premiering a newly composed opera scene in April.
