About Vendor

Jay Platt is an international consultant to companies, executives, and institutions of higher learning, providing them with ways to reach peak performance in business, health, and life. He has worked with some of the world's largest organizations including IBM, United States Naval Academy, Farm Bureau Financial Services, TAP Pharmaceuticals, and many more. He is a world class adventure athlete performing athletic feats that only a handful of (or no other) people in the world have ever even attempted, all to show others that they too can be unstoppable, no matter what obstacles they may face in business or life. Incredibly, he has accomplished all of these feats after being diagnosed with (and undergoing multiple surgeries and difficult treatments for) von Hippel-Lindau (VHL), a rare cancer syndrome that wreaks havoc in its victims, leaving them fighting tumors throughout the major organs of the body for the rest of their life. After the removal of his left eye, brain surgery, kidney cancer, and multiple spinal tumors as a result of VHL, the Marine Corps, after 15 years of service, retired him as a Gunnery Sergeant in 1998. Since his retirement, he has refused to allow the disease to keep him from helping others through his fundraising efforts. Jay's fundraising supports a variety of organizations which include the VHL Alliance, Wounded Warrior Project, American Cancer Society and others, and he has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars through various fundraising adventures that will make your head spin. In 1999, he completed a grueling southbound thru-hike of the more than 2,100 mile Appalachian Trail, becoming one of fewer than 300 people, at the time, ever to have done so. In 2005, he swam more than 1 1/2 miles from Alcatraz Island to San Francisco (with his hands and feet tied), becoming one of only three people in history to complete the difficult swim in such a way. And in 2011, he became the only person in history to swim 3/4 of a mile across the Mississippi River while blindfolded, handcuffed, and shackled! Jay has been written about in numerous magazines and newspapers and has been a guest on every major TV network and on dozens of radio shows. As a professional speaker his diverse clientele includes the National Institutes of Health, Lees-McCrae College, the United States Marine Corps, and many others. Jay is the author several books and audio programs, including his latest, No Matter What! and is featured in the documentary film, Living Unstoppable. * Special pricing is available for non-profit organizations and schools.
