Rex Matzke first formed this jazz group in 1988 in St. Louis, Missouri. After enjoying year-long engagements at Sirabellas Restaurant and then at Hannigans on the Riverfront the quartet featuring Rex on saxophone with piano bass and drums won for best original jazz composition in the greater St. Louis area song competition. Jazz Express is the small group out of Swing City Express considered a mainstream jazz group that performs many standards and jazz classics that the listener will recognize and enjoy. Swing City Express is a 9 piece Jazz/Swing band with or without vocalist that can play jazz sets only or music for dancing.
