The Marlene Jazz Ensemble will add that special "wow" to your event with unique and stylish jazz, be it a wedding, corporate function, holiday, or any kind of private party. We're versatile with our band size and instrumentation--available from solo, duo, trio to larger ensembles. Marlene is a pianist and vocalist and her ensemble performs a vocal and instrumental repertoire covering jazz, bossanova, rhythm and blues and originals, from Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra to Jobim, Sting and Aretha Franklin and of course, holiday music for the holidays! Most often, our clients choose a trio of piano/vocals, bass and either sax, guitar or drums, but we work with other instruments as well. She has also performed for Philippine ex-presidents Cory Aquino and Fidel Ramos and Thailand's Princess Chulabhorn. She performs in solo and ensemble settings. Her ensemble performs regularly for special events in New England’s top hotels, including Boston Harbor Hotel’s holiday events and the 2022 and 2023 Boston Wine and Food festivals, The Chanler at Cliffwalk, Fairmont Copley’s exclusive Bacchanale dinner and wine series, and New Year’s Eve galas at Chatham Bars Inn. Other performances include concerts at The Street, Chestnut Hill summer series, Boston Seaport summer series, 2017 Arlington Jazz Festival, 2008 Philippine International festival, Boston Arts Festivals, Acton Jazz Café, Beehive, Ryles Club for the UN-sponsored benefit to remove landmines in Mozambique, Worcester First Night and multiple appearances on local tv. She is also part of a new endeavor, The Brazilian Project, where she sings Brazilian tunes in both Portuguese and English.
