Jazzy Blu Jazz Band from Washington, DC

Jazzy Blu is a band based out of Washington D.C. with a jazzy neo-soulful sound enriched by the traditional jazz tones of years past. The band was started in 2005 by drummer, Dominic "Nikk" Taylor. Jazzy Blu consist of bassist Larry Richardson, jazz guitarist Leslie Lee, saxophonist Brent Birkhead, keyboardist Clay Morrow, vocalist Keith Brown, vocalist Danielle Hatchell, vocalist Bridgette Haggins and percussionist Mike Artis to complete Jazzy Blu. Each of the musicians bring an extremely diverse background, from Jazz, Funk, Rock, Gospel, and Blues to R& B and beyond. It is that diversity that gives Jazzy Blu its slightly different flavor, one you can't quite put your finger on. Jazzy Blu released its debut CD self titled Jazzy Blu, show-casing the innovative sounds of true jazz diversity. In 2010 Jazzy Blu opened on the Gulf coast at BayFest 2010 for Grammy award winner Mary J. Blige! The band also recently performed to a sold out crowd at the legendary Blues Alley! Jazzy Blu has shared the stage with such national artists as, The Stylistics, The Whispers, The Legendary Ojays, Baby Face, Kem, Chrisette Michelle, Chaka Khan and more! Jazzy Blu has a repertoire that is extremely diverse, playing traditional jazz as well as neo-soul.
