Simon Burke Jazz Band Jazz Band from New Orleans, LA

The Simon Burke Jazz Band plays a mix of New Orleans traditional jazz and songs from the American Songbook, with tunes made famous by artists such as Louis Armstrong, Fats Waller, Sidney Bechet, Duke Ellington and King Oliver. Simon has over 30 years' experience as a professional musician and is most regularly joined by Belinda Moody on upright bass and April Spain on piano. We generally play as a trio but are happy to augment our lineup to a quartet or even quintet with the addition of vocals, drums or a second wind instrument. We have played venues throughout New Orleans and have performed together since 2016. What to expect : We are punctual! We arrive at least thirty minutes (usually an hour) before performances are due to begin. This enables us to meet with our clients, discuss the best performance location and iron out any minor issues. We generally perform a mixed repertoire of New Orleans standards, American Songbook standards, Latin music and blues and more modern material. A typical 50 minute set might contain a blend of three or four New Orleans and American Songbook standards, a ballad, a latin tune and a blues. We are completely happy to cater to our clients' needs though and will always adjust our performance material and do our best to perform any special requests - if you do require specific tunes, advance warning is always appreciated!
