The Nat Simpkins Band is a hot, spicy gumbo that will always satisfy your appetite for a good time! This band will have you singing, dancing, and clapping to the beat in no time at all! Nat Simpkins' bluesy “Texas Tenor” sax sets a perfect mood for any occaision. Their exciting stage show is a rich gumbo with many spicy ingredients. Together they present all the flavors of New Orleans including Swing, Funk, Brass Band-Second Line, R&B, Hard Bop, Latin, Blues, and Calypso. Henri's singing style is reminiscent of Lou Rawls and Johnny Hartman, and Simpkins' tenor sound is from the tough “Texas Tenor” school of King Curtis, Gene Ammons, and Stanley Turrentine. They performed on “Good Morning America” as part of the Mardi Gras coverage. They have performed at Jazzfest, Satchfest, and major venues including Tipitinas, the House of Blues, the Lester Young Tribute Concert in NYC, and Cecil's Jazz Club in New Jersey. They headlined at Boston's “Steppin' Out” concert sharing the stage with Delfeayo Marsalis, Ellis Marsalis, Tito Puente Jr. and many others. This January they performed at the World Trade center for Big Night, a Mardi gras fundraiser for Big brother, Big Sister, opening for the Neville Brothers and Michael Franti. This exciting band is ready to share their talents and positive energy with the world!
