La Pompe Jazz Band from Dallas, TX

Bonjour, amis! We are a little bit of gypsy, a little bit of French, and a whole lotta swing! With multi-lingual vocals and driving rhythm, La Pompe will take you to 1940s Paris where the vibe is cool and the jazz is hot. Taking its musical cues from the incomparable Django Reinhardt and his Quintette du Hot Club de Paris, La Pompe plays the best of French and American jazz and wartime classics in what is commonly called a "gypsy" or "French cafe jazz" style. We have an unusual twist on the standard jazz group: our basic quartet is composed of upright bass, guitar, mandolin, and melodic French and English vocals. From the first note, La Pompe sets itself apart. Ask us about adding accordion, violin, or even clarinet for even more of that great, toe-tapping retro sound.
