Tony Gudell's powerful baritone brings the American Songbook to life in glorious Technicolor. The Gudell Jazz Syndicate is a collection of the best jazz musicians in the DMV, offering a variety of American Jazz - from roaring 1920's Hot Jazz to the sophisticated swing era of the 1940's and 50's. Whether performing as a jazz trio, big band, intimate piano or guitar, the Gudell Jazz Syndicate swings those classic and familiar songs by Eubie Blake, the Gershwins, Cole Porter and Irving Berlin. We can provide and arrange the size of the band and instrumentation to fit your event and budget. An experienced Master of Ceremonies, Tony can also serve as the funny, warm and engaging host to your event. A longtime favorite in the Washington, D.C. theatre scene, Tony has appeared in leading roles at many of the area's top playhouses. Tony now performs with his band, Jazz Syndicate, across the DMV, bringing his unique vocal styling and lighthearted wit to festivals, corporate and private events, and to the areas most iconic jazz clubs & restaurants. Whether swinging Rat Pack hits and evoking the smooth styles of Sinatra, Bennett and Torme, or bringing the Prohibition era back to life with the playful riffing of Fats Waller or Cliff Edwards, Tony effortlessly delivers a fun, swanky evening, hearkening back to the glamorous days of the Great American Supperclubs of the 1940's & '50's, or those rousing speakeasies of the 1920's & 30's. For the past several years Tony has been entertaining audiences at some of the most iconic jazz clubs and music venues in Washington, D.C. In January of 2018 Tony was a featured vocalist for the New Voices series at the historic Capital Hill music venue, Mr. Henry's, which led to a six-month stint as the first vocalist to headline on Saturday nights at the jazz and blues club, Columbia Station in Adams Morgan. For the past three years he had been seen regularly at Acadiana Restaurant's popular Sunday Jazz Brunch. Tony now has a monthly residency at Logan Circle's Victorian era whiskey bar, The Crown & Crow. Other venues include Don't Tell Mamma and Duplex in NYC, the venerable Alice's Jazz And Cultural Society in N.E. DC, Jojo's Restaurnat & Bar on U Street, N.W., The Cello Room @ Arcuri in Georgetown, New Year's Eve at Casolare in Glover Park, French Quarter Brasserie, Lee-Fendall House Museum and Garden in Old Town Alexandria, VA., and Woman's National Democratic Club in Washington, DC. "..a multi-layered, heart-warming, intelligent performance." -DC Theatre Scene "Tony's the man. An awesome entertainer from start to finish. A great time, everyone really enjoyed themselves. We can't wait for the next dinner and show! Campbell, Greenleaf Health "I was blessed to have the fabulous Tony Gudell join me on my event last night. I called him very last minute and he showed up in his tux (a true pro right there) and sang and made people laugh and dance...Perhaps 'The Greatest Showman' was about Tony?...Tony, thank you for knowing the tunes of the common man." -Jill Paige, Piano and DJ Your Event
