Tanya LaReese Gospel Singer from Saint Petersburg, FL

Tanya LaReese Jackson Green was born in Hartford, Connecticut, the daughter of Betty Jean Dodson-Jackson and James Arthur Jackson Senior, a Pentecostal Minister and Gospel vocalist. Tanya LaReese’s father attended Weaver High School in Hartford, Connecticut with the famous female vocalist, Dionne Warwick. They can be seen singing a duet together in his high school yearbook. James and Dionne sang together in the school choir and talent competitions. Tanya LaReese's parents also sang duets together. They sang gospel in the church choir and recorded a gospel album titled" The Proverbs Gospel Singers" in the mid 1960's. They were celebrities in their hometown of Hartford, Connecticut. Tanya LaReese’s mother died from breast cancer in 1973, and her father died from a sudden heart attack while playing basketball in 1992. She holds the memories of her beloved parents very close to her heart and considers them her inspiration.   At just four years old, Tanya and her siblings sang together in a group called The Jackson Singers at numerous churches and gospel conventions in Connecticut, California, and Florida. Tanya continued to evolve and explore different careers, but her passion for music remained in her heart. In 2002, she sang the National Anthem for the United States Army Recruiting Command's Annual Training Convention in Ocean City, Maryland. They immediately took note of her strong, soulful voice and star qualities, inviting her to return the following year. Tanya LaReese and her cousin Ricky Lewis spent countless hours in his recording studio recording singles and duets. Her cousin suddenly passed away while playing guitar in his hometown church in Atlanta, Georgia. The demo tapes were never released. Tanya LaReese had hopes of getting her music out. The tragedy set her back, but it did not stop her. She continued to sing across the country in the church, talent competitions, weddings and more. She joined American Idol's, Clay Aiken and sang in his Joyful Noise Tour at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, Florida. Tanya LaReese completed her very first inspirational, gospel, debut CD, "READY OR NOT!" on May 12, 2007 with all songs written and co-produced by her. This CD consists of songs that people can relate to everyday. It is AMAZING!!!! But there is more to Tanya LaReese’s story!   Tanya LaReese was always noted to be a special child by her stepmother. It is no surprise that as time has gone on her anointing and gift from God has become more powerful. She is blessed with many gifts, but her beautiful voice makes you feel the power behind each word when she sings. She is an extremely talented singer /songwriter/ recording artist and author. She is an inspiration to many and leaves a positive impression with all those she encounters. Tanya LaReese took a break during COVID to return to school and will be graduating with her Bachelor’s in Christian Studies. She has also embarked on a journey of writing her book, “Your Mental Health Is The Most Important Thing” which will be released soon! Between her God-given gift to sing, and now being an author who can share her story to help others, she is back and better than ever!
