Jamie performs over 60 of Frank Sinatra's songs in a show that will take you back to the good old days. With a dead ringer voice, smooth delivery and vintage wardrobe, he will keep your guests spellbound! Jamie has performed for many clubs, fundraisers and clientele in the California Valley such as the Visalia Country Club, Vintage Press, Holiday Inn, Wyndham Hotel & Resort and Lion's Clubs in addition to starring in the musical production "My Way" at the Icehouse Theater in Visalia. Jamie will have the crowd dancing to the classic hits "Witchcraft", "Fly Me To The Moon" and “Luck Be A Lady” along with all of Sinatra's greats. Performances can range from short appearances to an entire afternoon or evening. Audiences emphatically agree that Jamie channels Sinatra's signature crooner voice and charismatic style. Although he is known for his infatuation with "New York, New York," the famed jazz singer Frank Sinatra is making a little holiday trip to Visalia to celebrate his birthday. Over the course of his life, he inspired countless other musicians and singers across the world, and that's especially the case for one local singer who is throwing him a special birthday bash 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12 in the Mahogany Lounge at the Wyndham Hotel in Visalia. Sinatra's voice is becoming a familiar one across Tulare County thanks to the popular local entertainer Jamie Hitchcock, although he admits, his face doesn't share a particular resemblance. "He did have a mustache at one time," Hitchcock said, "But you're here for the music." So it's a good thing that his smooth voice is a dead ringer for the famous performer who landed one top hit after another. His songs became as iconic as the city of New York itself, resulting in his identity becoming infused with the landmarks and culture of the time with tracks such as "The Brooklyn Bridge," "Autumn in New York," and "The Lady is a Tramp." "It's really funny. There are a lot of tourists that come through from places like Germany, and they don't know English but they can still sing along," Hitchcock said. Jamie has since found himself featured on foreign blog posts and receiving performance requests from places as far as Holland. "I say if you sponsor me I'll come," he said with a laugh. Apart from a cultural divide, the voice of Sinatra also bridges age gaps as well. Although, Jamie does feel the need to remind some of the younger folks that "Love and Marriage" was not originally written as a television theme song for the show "Married with Children." "It's nice seeing younger couples coming out to things like this. It's swinging back around," Hitchcock said. "It's good. It's clean. Everyone loves it." Clean as well is his presentation. Jamie performs in his Sunday best with a completely vintage wardrobe, which just might be his secret to channeling the legend on stage. "I've always liked Sinatra, but I've always been a shy singer. The first time I performed was at a friend's fashion show. I had to get my nerve up," he said. "Once I got the tuxedo on, I could do it." Just like Sinatra himself, Jamie never had a formal education in music, but they both share a natural understanding of it. "If you listen to him long enough you pick up on his inflections. That's what I do," he said. "I was born in the wrong era. I was always changing the radio to the oldie station. My parents always listened to old music. It struck a chord." It's certainly striking a chord with local audiences that have invited Jamie to perform at numerous fundraisers and events. When it comes to what lies ahead for his prospects appearing as Ol' Blue Eyes again elsewhere, it's fitting that the reminder of every birthday celebration is that the best is yet to come.
