WeddingReviewed on December 5, 2022From Lake Placid, NY

Ryan and Brennish provided music for our cocktail hour and dinner party reception in Lake Placid. It was PERFECT! They knew exactly how to read the room, and everyone loved the music. The song selections were exactly what we were hoping for (folk) which fit the atmosphere. We loved the variety of instruments -they are both so talented! Ryan was quick to respond to any questions I had in advance of our event. I would highly recommend Ryan and Brennish for any event. You will not be disappointed! Thank you both for being a part of our special day!

CelebrationReviewed on May 31, 2021From Shrewsbury, MA

We were blessed to have this father/son fiddling duo at our small backyard celebration a few weeks ago! After a long COVID year, we decided everyone could use a special festivity and boy was it special!! The music was mesmerizing -many of our guests commented on how relaxed they felt while listening. It was a beautiful Spring evening and their magical fiddle playing made our event one we will always remember! We loved the small educational pieces they planted in between songs - learning about the music gave us an even greater appreciation for the music. Amazing, wonderful, gracious, soft spoken and humble fiddle masters!

Ryan Thomson was the perfect choice for our event. He arrived early, used his amazing talents to play his instruments for us for 4 hours, and was very professional and friendly. Having him share his skills with us made the event spectacular! We were so fortunate to find him and would recommend him highly. Tresa Fish

WeddingReviewed on September 29, 2015From Waterford, ME

Ryan Thomson (and son!) were absolutely incredible! They were always exactly where they needed to be ... which to me seemed like a miracle considering we didn't have a planner/organizer. They were totally self-sufficient and got everything set up on time AND -- on top of all that -- they played beautifully!!! I'm so glad we booked them for the wedding, it helped make the occasion that much more special. I highly recommend them for any event in need of some amazing fiddle tunes!!!

WeddingReviewed on September 16, 2014From Sunapee, NH

Ryan and Brennish were amazing and made my daughter's wedding very special with their talents of music with all their instruments!!!! They were extremely accommodating, playing at the pre ceremony, then playing while walking the guest trough the woods to our home to the ceremony. He was so flexible dealing with the changing weather conditions . He is so very pleasant and was a joy to work with!!!!

Anniversary PartyReviewed on August 18, 2010From Sherborn, MA

We had an excellent overall experience with Ryan Thomson/Captain Fiddle. He was extremely responsive and communicative by email and phone, very pleasant, professional, and clear. Based upon the information he gave us, together we were able to select a lovely repertoire for my parents anniversary party. He arrived on time, interacted very nicely with us, listened carefully to the information we gave him about the party and the guests, and played beautifully. His music was perfect for the garden party we had planned. We would hire him again!

Birthday Party (Adult)Reviewed on November 22, 2009From Boxford, MA

We had Ryan and his son perform at what we called a country hoe down Ryan showed up on time with all his instruments and in country attire we were very pleased with his preparation for my event our disappointment was that he lacked any personality with our guests he never spoke to his audience and was not very up beat.I was so surprised that he never played his flute until the very end of the night. My crowd never got into his music it was too bad cause we exspected him to get our guest into the whole theme of the party!!!

:

Client claimed "budget limitations," challenged my quote with "Is this your best price?" I agreed to extra 30 min., played 40. Client viewed YouTube vids of "Fiddling Thomson's" (12 yr old son and I). replied music was fine. At hall found half of "audience" seated facing away from us. We played lively tunes on fiddles, banjo, and accordion while guests conversed loudly, ate, drank. Except for "happy birthday," no other requests for songs, styles, instruments for entire 2.5 hr. period. With no feedback we believed we were providing proper ambience for a "country hoedown." We wish that anyone, at any time, would have requested flute or anything else in particular!

Private PartyReviewed on November 15, 2008From Winchester, MA

Very, very pleased with Ryan Thompson's appearance at our event. Ryan has an unassuming, warm personality, and the guests at our event thoroughly enjoyed his performance and his friendliness. He readily solicited requests, and moved effortlessly from fiddle to accordion. Ryan made a major contribution to a very enjoyable event.
