John Mickelson is an Georgia born and raised musician, singer/songwriter, and guitarist. Mickelson displays respect for the craft of his music, with finely constructed songs that feel as if they soar down from the mountaintop to resonate the listener's heart-strings. When you see him perform, expect to hear influences of a variety of genres of music, such as Americana, Jazz, Bluegrass, R&B, World Music, Pop and more. An 'Artisinal' guitarist, Mickelson has been engaging audiences with the virtuosity of his guitar playing for over 20 years. His acclaimed original material has been featured on both Radio and Televison markets. Growing up in Atlanta, Mickelson was surrounded by a diverse world of cultures and music his whole life. "My great-grandfather was a mandolin player from Germany, so I guess it just runs in the blood". Mickelson sings and performs as a solo artist on occasion, and has a full band called Dusty Roads, which he formed in 2014. Dusty Roads' instrumentation consists of guitar, fiddle, mandolin, upright bass, and drums. Dusty Roads plays acoustic music in a variety of genres such as Americana, Jazz, Bluegrass, Pop, and more, and can perform as a duo, trio, quartet, & quintet. They have performed many great festivals and venues, such as the Candler Park Fall Fest, Chomp & Stomp, Inman Park Fest, as well as private events and weddings.
