As a clown, I (Dottie Dot) create magic by cultivating smiles, creating precious memories, and a focus on making each child feel exceptional. She has many ways of drawing children out. I encourage children to be my helpers. I enjoy giving as many children a place in the spotlight. In my years of clowning, I created millions of smiles and laughter and happy memories all around the community. I am an expert at entertaining children for birthdays, holiday celebrations, festivals and corporate entertainment. A typical fun packed party will include a comedy magic show where I captivate your child and adults while making the magic happen. Twisting balloons as the children are thrilled to pick put there own design and color. Children of all ages enjoy watching balloons twisted into doggies they can name, flowers to hold, hats to wear, or swords that make children into daring pirates. Captain Jack, watch out! I have many energetic games (inside/outside) perfect for children of any age. Group games help children become more socially adept. Games help improve children interpersonal skills and learn valuable lessons. I have a musical instrument where the children become the rock star. Glitter Tattoos, uses glitter tattoos for children ages 3 to 100 that can last for 3-10 days. Water soluble tattoos that easily wash off are available for younger children. Dottie Dot uses only the highest quality products. Festivals and Corporate Entertainment I am available for corporate events where I can provide balloon creatures, pocket magic, and face painting. I (Dottie Dot) participates in the Cherry Blossom parade, the Washington, DC Saint Patrick's Day Parade; the Silver Spring Thanksgiving Day Parade; the Gaithersburg's Parade and smaller parades in the Maryland/DC area. I also performs at various fairs and festivals, spreading laughter at every event! In fact, that's why the Howard County fair has made me their official "Clown Entertainer"! Volunteer Activities The first week of August is International Clown Week. This is precious time for Dottie Dot to give back to others. In past years during this week she has volunteered at the following: * The Gaithersburg up county Senior Center * Seneca Heights Apartments – Montgomery County Coalition for the homeless * St. Ann's Infant and Maternity Home (St. Ann's is a home for abused, neglected and abandoned children and pregnant and parenting teenage women) * Little Sister of the Poor (where they offer the neediest elderly of every race and religion a home where they will be welcome) * Potomac Valley Nursing Home and Wellness Center in Rockville, MD * Potomac Community Resources, Inc. (PRC) provides therapeutic, recreational programs for teens and adults with developmental differences * Water Park at Bohrer Park in Gaithersburg Dottie Dot Bio Rita joined Kapitol Klowns™ in 2008. Kapitol Klowns™ (Alley #6) based in the Gaithersburg/Washington D.C. area, is a 44yr old organization and the second oldest Alley in the U.S. Dottie Dot is a member and continues to attend monthly meetings at Kapitol Klowns™, and is enrolled at Clowns of America International (COAI), Mid-Atlantic Clown Association (MACA), and World Clown Association (WCA). From 2008-2010 Rita was an apprentice in this performing art. In 2010, Rita was graduated to professional Clown, after learning about clown make-up, clown costuming, elements and styles of comedy, along with the history of clowning as a diverse entertainment art form.
