The White House Band Variety Band from Fairfax, VA

The White House Band is a wonderful entertainment group equally versed at playing concerts or providing dance music....exactly what they were tasked to do when the membership of the band were all part of Washington DC-based Service bands and regularly performed at The White House. Providing musical support for The famous performers brought in to The White House, or performing their own unique variety shows of "Pop", or "Jazz" or a combination of both, this band knows how to entertain. Featuring great vocal or instrumental arrangements many of which were written in and first performed in The White House, you can hire this same band to either entertain you and your guests with a musical show, or, have them provide great dance music ranging from swing, through Mo-town and ballroom dancing. The choice of The White House Band also features a group of the world's finest musicians who have stories to tell and a world of fun for any audience. If you have ever been to Wolftrap, The Kennedy Center, The National Theatre, or the special concerts on Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, or Labor Day, you have seen these guys and Gals perform....you may have even seen them on TV. Dave Detwiler, former lead trumpet with The Army Blues, Ass.Trumpet with The NSO "Pops" and local "first-call" show player, leads the group consisting of: Chris Vadala, (US Coast Guard) formerly with Chuck Mangione, The NSO "Pops" and director of jazz studies at UMD, on saxophones. Dr.Darden Purcell, (US Air Force Band)chair of the Jazz Studies Dept at GMU fronts as vocalist, along with singer,songwriter and auxiliary percussionist Glenn Scimonelli (US Air Force Band). Trombonist Rhoades Whitehill (US Navy Commodores) completes the three-piece horn line which is backed by Dr.Mark Cook, chair of the Music adept at Shepherd University, on Keyboards, Ronnie Shaw (US Air Force Band) and Three Mo Tenors drummer on the set drums, with Glenn Dewey (The US Marine Band) on bass and Ken Hall on guitar.
