The Elmwoods Cover Band from Oakland, CA

Country...plus Rock-a-pop-a-funk-a-billy! We decided that this is the best way to describe the kind of music that we do. It's a wide variety that includes elements of rock and pop music, classic country, and even some songs that are definitely quite funky and great to dance to! Rock-a-pop-a-funk-a-billy...kind of catchy, right? First off, let's clear up what you are wondering about our name. How did we ever manage to come up with such an original and inspired name for our band? It was actually pretty easy. Our rehearsal space is located in a discrete, confidential location right in the heart of Berkeley, California's very popular Elmwood district. One evening after rehearsal, the discussion swung around to "what should we name our band?" and at the very moment, we were walking by the classic movie theatre there in the Elmwood district that was cleverly named "Elmwood". In a blinding flash of spontaneous inspiration, all of us realized that we simply had to name the band "The Elmwoods", and thus the band was named. Feel better now that you know the details? Originally, we got together to play music starting in 2008 just for fun and to selfishly keep it to ourselves. Since we had no real agenda other than to pick out songs we liked and see how those songs would sound if we did our version of them, our repertoire quickly became extremely varied and covered many different styles of music. Gradually, as we fine-tuned things along the way, we decided it would be fun to share our music with the world and started performing at private party gigs for our friends and then friends of friends etc. For more details on what songs we routinely perform (not including requests...which we're happy to do!), please see the "Song List" page on our web site *******.**********.***.
