RAIN CHECK Rain Check, with three CD's to their credit, is a Winston-Salem, NC based acoustic group that has found its niche in putting a bluegrass twist on songs by some of the world's greatest songwriters, combining them with traditional and contemporary bluegrass classics, and an ever growing list of their own originals. All of this makes for a show that pleases audiences of any age and any type of event. If you like quality bluegrass, Van Morrison, Eric Clapton, Tom Petty, John Prine, The Eagles, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, The Beatles, Gordon Lightfoot, The Subdudes and Bob Marley, you'll love Rain Check. We are raring to get out and start playing again in 2021, promising great music, happy audiences, anywhere, every time! MEMBERS Allen Conrad, guitar and vocals, and Jack Steelman on upright bass, Rain Check's founders, trace their histories back to a high school friendship beginning in the late '60's. Allen was focused at the time on his family folk music group, The Conrad Trio; while Jack was playing brass instruments in a variety of classical, big band, and beach music groups including the Platters. Dennis Severt on mandolin and vocals grew up in the Severt family band and went on from there to star with Lou Reid and Jimmy Haley in the internationally known group, Southound. John Boulding, banjo, dobro, and vocals, performed with the Severts in his early years, later became a founding member of Wyatt Rice and Santa Cruz, and toured internationally with the Shady Grove Band. By day, John is recognized as one of the most talented instrument repairmen in the country, trained at an early age by his father, Wallace Boulding. From reflective ballads that lay you back in your seat, to rollicking covers and originals that get you on your feet, the music of Rain Check is a new breed in America's acoustic music scene. We call in bluegrass without borders, and a whole lot of fun! The group's third CD, Red Wine For My Heart has been played on bluegrass radio shows in Asheville, Raleigh, Nashville, Maine, and Canada. AVAILABILITY Rain Check is available for performances at concert venues, festivals, wineries, clubs, restaurants, wedding parties, corporate events, fund raisers, and private parties throughout the mid-Atlantic states. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- REPRESENTATIVE PERFORMANCE VENUES NORTH CAROLINA Winston-Salem The Old Fourth Street Fillin' Station Foothills Brewing Company and Tasting Room 6th and Vine Hutch and Harris Trade Street Music in the Street Concert Series House Concert with Shannon Whitworth and Jon Stickley Amani Celebration at Thunderwood Old Town Country Club The Old Orchard Diner Ziggy's The Garage Big Shotz Salem Glen Country Club Muddy Creek Music Hall Benton Convention Center Community Arts Café North Carolina School of the Arts/Millennium Center Ramkat Fiddlin' Fish Brewery Earl's Southern Cuisine Forsyth County North Carolina Wine Festival at Tanglewood Winmock at Kinderton Raleigh International Bluegrass World of Bluegrass Raleigh Durham International Airport Mt.
