Matt Flinner Trio Bluegrass Band from Ripton, VT

The Matt Flinner Trio, led by Grammy-nominated mandolinist Matt Flinner, plays bluegrass/jazz/acoustic/chambergrass with an original edge. Their three Compass Records releases feature music written as part of their ongoing "Music du Jour" project, in which each member writes music to be performed that same day. This has led them to explore the possiblities of sounds and textures for an acoustic "bluegrass" trio, and through it they've created a sound all their own. At the same time, they've stuck to their bluegrass/Appalachian roots, and are as comfortable playing (and singing) traditional bluegrass, old-time and jazz standards as they are playing their own music.
