Although Gary Ferris has a passion for crooning the old American standards, he is equally as comfortable singing today's adult-contemporary hits. He can perform for your event with a small combo, a big band, or with recorded soundtracks. By performing with soundtracks he can deliver high quality music at a very affordable cost. Solo performances with recorded soundtracks start at $100; the costs for a combo or a big band include costs for those additional musicians. Specific pricing available upon request. Gary has some very creative options that would make your event one that your guests will long remember: -- Singing DJ service: With a library of more than 7,000 songs, Gary can create a party mix for you that includes both live vocals with recorded soundtracks, and original recordings of today's top hits. The party mix can be customized according to your audience's taste. -- World War II radio broadcasts: An author, historian and performer, Gary wrote, produced and performs a series of three hour-long re-creations of World War II home-front radio broadcasts. Audiences at these shows become the audiences for these live broadcasts of a weekly Armed Forces Radio show called "Until It's Over Over There." “They are sort of like an historical novel brought to life,” he said, referring to the fact that these shows are dramatic re-creations of shows like Glenn Miller's “I Sustain the Wings” or Bob Hope's “Command Performance.” A Glenn MIller look-alike, Ferris assumes the role of a Captain in the Army Air Forces as he hosts these shows. They are immensely popular among veterans organizations, in retirement communities, and in venues such as public libraries, elementary schools and community centers. “Until It's Over Over There: The First Broadcast” The setting for the program is a New York City radio studio in summer 1944. Weeks earlier, following the Allied invasion of Normandy, Capt. Glenn Miller and his Army Air Forces Band left for London to be able to better support the young men and women who were fighting to preserve democracy. But taking on this new mission left a void on home-front radio waves. “Until It's Over Over There” is billed as a replacement for “I Sustain the Wings,” the radio show that Capt. Miller hosted from New York from mid-1943 until June 1944. It includes music, letters from men and women serving overseas, period commercial messages, and a War Bond promo spot. To add a level of authenticity, the program opens with an Armed Forces Radio station identification message that is heard a lighted “On Air” sign comes on. “Until It's Over Over There: The Christmas Show” The setting is the same New York City radio studio. It's December 1944 and the Allies are making incredible advances in both theaters of war. In Europe, American forces are about to endure the Battle of the Bulge while their counterparts in the Pacific secured Leyte Island before starting an advance on a small Japanese outpost called Iwo Jima. Just back from a concert tour in England, the cast of “Until It's Over Over There” returns to its New York City radio studio for a broadcast that includes some of the best-loved Christmas music requested by troops fighting around the globe. The show reminds the audience how the peace of Christmas paved the way for the world peace that was on the horizon that cold winter. “Until It's Over Over There: The Road to Victory” Spring of 1945 was a time of hope. Victory in Europe was just around the corner, while action in the Pacific intensified. People all around the globe waited and watched as world peace was restored. For this show, the cast and crew of “Until It's Over Over There” appear in a remote broadcast from the famed Stage Door Canteen in New York. The show includes love songs requested by soldiers and sailors who were looking forward to coming home to their sweethearts, as well as some of the most memorable popular songs of the day. News reports from all fronts indicate that the War is just about over. These shows can be modified or customized. To create an entire evening, such as a fundraising dinner event, background music can be added before or after the main show itself, or the show can be extended for up to four hours. Let me know your particular needs and I will be able to create an event just for you!
