Dear Prospective Customer, This is a once in a life time investment that you are about to make. The bagpiper you hire should be the best that you can get for your money. The cheapest price is not always the best value! My name is Gary Guth. I am a Professional Bagpiper. I play gigs, teach bagpipes and sell bagpipes and equipment for a living and have been for the last 26 years. I have been playing for 51 years. I have competed in bagpipe competitions and went all the way to the top in my competition days back in the 70's. I am also an accomplished pianist and singer and have a degree in music. The bagpipe is a tough instrument to play. It requires a lot of stamina and it also requires a lot of music to be memorized. The problem is that bagpipers with little experience believe that they can come into the market with a hand full of tunes and play your major event. Nothing could be further from the truth. The bagpiper that you hire, should have over 100 tunes on their list so that they aren't playing the same tunes over and over. Your family and guests deserve to hear a variety of music played well on a finely tuned instrument. That is what you are paying for. It's not about the fancy kilt and outfit, it's about how the bagpipes make you feel when you hear them. I specialize in funerals. A graveside service consists of 4 parts: 1) The Prelude; I will start playing as you are arriving in the cemetery. 2) The Processional; I will play "Going Home" as they move the casket from the hearse to the grave. 3) The Recessional; I will play "Amazing Grace" after the Funeral Director's announcements 4) The Postlude; I will play either a Scottish or Irish Postlude depending on your family's background. If the deceased is a Veteran I will play his service song as well. I do at weddings what an organist would do if you were in a church. I play the preservice music and greet your guests as they arrive to your ceremony. I will play your wedding party down the aisle and then the Bride. I will also play the new Bride and Groom up the aisle and continue playing the postlude into the receiving line. This is an all inclusive service. It takes a lot of tunes to do this well. Read my testimonials and give me a call if you have any questions. Lastly, I wouldn't consider hiring any bagpiper whom you haven't seen perform either in person or on video. I have lots of video available on this website. I look forward to serving you. Sincerely, Gary Guth.
