Just A Humble Piper Bagpiper from Paulsboro, NJ

I didn't get into piping for accolades or money, I did it, frankly, because it's "in my DNA"... and partly because I just couldn't get the "hang" of my dad's "button box", that he learned to play from his dad and the great Jimmy Shand, on the streets of Denbeath. So I had to do something to express the pride that I have in my personal heritage and the passion I have for the rich musical heritage of "the auld country." And forty decades later, and despite taking a long break, I'm still piping, still loving it and still learning. So who would you rather hire - someone with a room full of "tin", or someone who plays for the sheer love of the pipes... and frankly is "nae sae bad"? Now a couple of particulars- - My starting price IS NOT "written in stone", so feel free to contact me and we can discuss your particular situation. My attitude is is that if you want a piper, you should have a piper, and I have never been sorry for taking that stance. Everyone I have played for has treated me well, some extremely and almost embarrassingly so. - I recently changed the distance that I am willing to travel, because this website measures distance by "line of sight", not actual driving distance. Nor do they take into account how long the trip would actually be. Not that I haven't driven two hours one way to help a gentleman honor his mom, who passed away with Alzheimer's as my mom did, or told a couple that I would just show up at their wedding down the Jersey Shore, even though they had been through some hard times and let me know that they couldn't pay me. Again, circumstances matter, not time or money. So again, who would you rather hire? Lastly, I have more personal references that what appear on the site. I still meet and talk to people while I'm out practicing in public, or who have been given my name by others who I've played for. If you've made it this far, thanks for your time. Michael
