ROAD CREW is your Go-To band for a varied musical genre of Rock and Roll, Country-Rock, Country, and the Blues! We have been honing our act together for 15 years providing entertainment to Northern California from Napa to the High Sierra and beyond! Instrumentation consists of guitars, mandolins, keyboard, organ, bass guitar, drums and vocals. Four of our Five members sing both lead vocals and background vocals and we do Three and Four part vocal harmonies reminiscent of famous bands and various artists from the 50"s clear on to the present. We are retired, young, energetic individuals looking to enhance our schedules’ by playing more wineries, brew houses, private parties, wedding venues and if you are non of the formentioned, give us a call regarding your event anyway! We can also provide a Duo or Trio according to your budget and can also provide wedding ceremony music as well as play the wedding reception afterword's. Please check out the current set list and music sampler and thanks for visiting our Bash Site. Here is a bit of bio. on our band mates. Multi- instrumentalist John Tindel parleyed his fortuitous early classical piano training into many projects of a more diverse blend of country, bluegrass honky tonk, blues and rock and roll in his early development, before heading north to the fertile fishing grounds of Kodiak AK. After a miss spent youth chasing King Crab and large salmon he finally came to his senses and started playing professionally in Alaska, then Hawaii, then a lovely 10 years in Key West, playing countless hours for happy sun-goers at Sloppy Joe's and the Hogs Breath Saloon. The early '90s brought a move to Santa Cruz CA and a thirty year tenure playing the Monterey Bay and points beyond, most notably with the vocal trio RST, and the award winning R and B band Red Beans and Rice, voted all 10 of his years with the band, "Best band on the Monterey Bay". Retirement with his wife Mary of 42 years brought a move to the Placerville area to be closer to adult kids and five grandkids... Which inevitably lead to more music for Rockin' Johnny T! And still loving every moment! Don Schmitt’s first paying gig was singing in a barbershop quartet in high school in Southern California while learning how to play guitar singing around the campfire. In 1972 he moved to the Napa Valley and took up playing bass with various local bands and landed the bass spot with The Michael Thomason Band playing county and state fairs and opening for Emmy Lou Harris , Johnny Paycheck and others, sharing the stage and recording studios with Amos Garret, Norton Buffalo, Doyle Bramhall 11, Sean Allen and Carl Brouse. In the late 90’s through 2012 TMTB toured Western Europe every winter using Germany as a home base writing and recording songs when not on the road. Don moved to Placerville and married his sweetheart in 2005 and has retired from touring but can’t stay off the stage playing for y’all. Ron Goldberg (vocals, guitar, mandolin) has been a singer all his life. He began playing guitar in 1965, first tried ukulele in 1975, mandolin in 1994, tenor banjo in 2002 and started getting down on the stand up bass in 2019. He has been performing regionally as a solo and with bands since 1975. Past musical groups include Buster and the Penetrators (Doo Wap), Yolo Causeway (Bluegrass and Country Swing), Section 8 (Rock and Blues), Moonshine (Country and Country Rock), Band of Gold (Oldies Rock), Deja Vu (Garage Rock), Chesterfields (Country and Blues), Goldstars (Bluegrass and Newgrass), Carole Peruse and the Country Showmen (Female vocal Country), Ron Goldberg Quartet (Rock, Blues, Country, Reggae) and most recently, Road Crew. Richie started his musical guitar and stringed instrument journey at the age of 13 and was playing professionally in a Variety band by the age of 15 performing at Palisades Amusement Park along with other East Coast Venues where we were booked most every weekend for a two year period. Then onto the N.Y. folk/country scene playing guitar and singing in a duo, Country Rum, before moving to the S.F. bay area doing original rock and roll at The Stone, Cotati Cabaret, Keystone Berkeley in the bay area band The Source all while studying Music at Ca. State Univ. Hayward and graduating with a degree in Voice. Country/Rock is his favorite style and being a “well seasoned” musician, he has performed many different syles from singing with Oakland Symphony Chorus and Sacramento Symphony Chorus, to Barbershop, Standards, Country and rock and roll and jazz standards. Richie has been playing both lead & rhythm guitar, 12 string guitar and mandolin and vocals, in Road Crew for the past 15 years loving every moment with the best musicians and best comrades in arms. We make great music with excellent vocal harmonies and create a fun, good time for ourselves and your guests.
