I play traditional Celtic, French, English, Quebecois, New England, and contra dance music all over North America and beyond as a full-time freelance musician. I play accordion, but not the kind of stereo-typical oompah accordion that might first come to mind. I can have everybody up on their feet dancing in a flash with gritty, groovy, as a friend calls them "French head-banger tunes," or I can blend into the background and set a sophisticated mood with a style that is somewhere between chamber music and folk music. I can just play the music, or I can teach French village dances or easy, accessible American folk dances. I am always happy to bring bandmates with me to expand the sound, as I play in several different ensembles that include various combinations of fiddle, guitar, piano, clarinet, and vocals, ranging from duos to quartets.
